Egg-traordinary Fun!

Today we decorated Easter eggs and although Colin enjoyed it, I think Eli enjoyed terrorizing us more. Hee hee! We didn't do anything fancy this year - just solid colors and we drew on a few with crayons. Colin had fun picking out which egg should go in which color and placing them gently in the cup. The first couple he dropped in and they cracked, but he quickly got the hang of it. One of Colin's favorites was an egg for all the people he loves - he had Chris write down all the names of his friends and family members. It was very cute to hear him list off everyone. He would put his finger to his head or chin and look up or down as he tried to make sure he didn't forget anyone.

Ready to get started.

So many colors to choose from.

Lookin' for trouble.

Gotcha!

Put me down!

Not going anywhere now.

All done!

Then, tonight before bed, Colin wrote a letter to the Easter bunny. He wrote it out himself, and while he was "writing" he was saying what he was thinking. It was kind of like a stream of consciousness and I couldn't help but write it down, it was so funny! (Well, maybe not to you, but to me). Just a preface before I write it here. Colin was very excited to leave a snack of cookies and milk for the Easter bunny, just like he did for Santa. He's also very excited to see his cousin, Alex, on his birthday (and keeps thinking that every birthday is also a celebration of his birthday) and to do an Easter egg hunt with him and his siblings.

"Happy Easter Bunny,
To us, cookies... We have cookies on me... We made you cookies. We call him - Easter Bunny...note. Here we have cookies. That's everything.

Happy Birthday us. Happy Birthday Alex. Happy Easter to the bunny. You drink milk and eat cookies. Happy Easter us and Drew and Autumn and me and Mama and Daddy and Eli and Alex.

Here he is, thinking hard about what to write next and then showing me his masterpiece.

One Last Party to Celebrate Colin's Birthday

First let me say, that I recognize how ridiculous it is to have 4 separate parties for a 3 year old. I don't know why this always seems to happen, but I do plan on making changes next year (not that I don't think my child deserves to be celebrated, but 4???). :)

On Saturday we met up with Grammy and Poppy and Uncle Don's family at Domino's Farm to celebrate Colin's 3rd and Sabina's 5th birthdays. Thankfully it was sunny because it was very chilly! We all had looked at the forecast and saw that the high for the day was supposed to be 55. Not bad, right? Except we didn't go at the hottest part of the day, we went at 10 AM. I think it was 35. Brrr! No big deal though. The kids shared mittens and enjoyed the animals. We got to see a newborn calf that was born just hours before we arrived as well as tons of bunnies, hungry goats, cows (one of which kept mooing at us - I think she was hungry too), horses, sheep, llamas, etc.

We also got to go on a hay ride which was Colin's favorite part.

We had pizza before we left and then headed over to Grammy and Poppy's for hot chocolate, cupcakes, and presents! Unfortunately the hot chocolate did not go over as well as I had hoped. At least for Colin. The poor kid was so excited to get to drink hot chocolate for the first time, but he kept spilling it out of his big-boy cup and when I put it in a sippy, it exploded all over him. Thankfully it wasn't very hot at that point, but it still freaked him out. Especially when we tried taking the stopper out to fix the problem and it exploded all over him a second time. He stuck to chocolate milk after that. In the pictures below you'll see some of the cool toys he got including a stuffed dragon he has named Sassy, a bug-collecting kit, and a ride-on pedaling fire engine!

That morning, before we left for the farm, he got to open a package he received in the mail from Aunt Angie. It was a Lego fire engine and it was really funny because when I got it from the mailbox the day before, he instantly said "That's a present for me." (He does not usually stake claim to packages we get in the mail - probably because he doesn't usually get packages in the mail). When I let him carry it, he shook it and said "It's a toy". I couldn't stop laughing because he got no prompting from me and I kept denying that it was for him. He was very insistend and by golly he was right.

Despite the brisk weather it was a fun day and most importantly the kids had a great time.

Colin's Joey

Today Chris was teaching Colin how to move and act like different animals. Some of the demonstrations included a monkey, a crab, an elephant, a frog, and a bunny. However, none of them attracted Colin's attention like the kangaroo. Not only did he enjoy hopping like one, but he became fascinated with caring for his joey. He created a pouch in his shirt and then decided he needed a stroller so he could take his joey grocery shopping. Here he is with Chris' joey and his own, in the double stroller. Awww! Eli was snuggling with his 'joey' too.

Hello Spring

There's so much to love about this time of year - warmer weather, flowers starting to sprout, longer days... One thing I do not love - finding my child flinging dog poo that he had mistaken as rocks. Ewww!!

Colin's 3 Year Well-Child Appointment

Colin's doctor appointment went well yesterday (except for the surprise shot at the end). He is 39 inches tall and 32.2 pounds, putting him in the 75th percentile for both height and weight. Here are some shots I took of him a couple days after his birthday when he was feeling much better.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Today the boys and I went to a TPG St. Patrick's Day party. I'd say there were about 100 people there and it was a lot of fun! The kids got to run around and the moms got to chat a bit. Plus, on our way home, I got a sneak-attack shot of Eli smiling. Score 1 for Mom! I hope everyone else is having a fabulous and green day. :)

Colin found a fire engine.

Sneak attack photo-op!

Can I pretend Colin cut this out???
